Insides Out is a sculptural garment designed and constructed by New York based artist L. Mylott Manning. The frock consists of 700 spools of thread in a variety of sizes and colors. Amongst the tangled threads a number of wooden vintage spools and contemporary plastic spools are embedded. The artist’s intent is to conceptually illuminate the importance of thread, a fastening material vital to the support of everyday life. Insides Out embodies the mantra, “keep it together, keep it together, keep it together.”
